Crafts meets art meets manufactory
KPM Boardinghaus und Residences
KPM "Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur" Berlin is one of the oldest manufactories in Europe. For over 250 years, every porcelain has been produced by hand in the Berlin factory in the heart of Berlin. The Royal Porcelain Manufactory has taken the consolidation of its production facilities in Berlin Tiergarten in the English street as an opportunity to develop a hospitality concept that is unique and individual and expresses the high quality of the brand.
The Potsdam-based architects Axthelm Rolvien were responsible for this and, in close cooperation with KPM, were developing the boarding house in 4 floors and the residential units on floors 5 to 7. The basement features a spa and underground car park, an Asian fine dining restaurant on the ground floor and a KPM suite for events in the penthouse. As a general contractor, we were allowed to carry out the entire interior work as well as consultancy and support in project development. The construction time was 12 months for on-site planning. There were 175 individual rooms and apartments, the rooms with a mobile kitchen, that is, the kitchen can be closed by the guest on request. This resulted in an extraordinary architecture with unique interior solutions at the highest level.
