Berggasthof Königstuhl

Oasis with a view

The Königstuhl on the edge of the Altstadt in Heidelberg is for both tourists and natives an oasis of peace and relaxation. This 570 meter hill provides a fantastic view of Heidelberg and the Neckar River. The resplendent Berghotel on the Heidelberger Königstuhl with its classy terrace and twelve guest rooms was once a popular vacation destination, until it fell into a state of disrepair and was ultimately closed in 2009. The entrepreneurial family Scheidtweiler, after almost a decade-long endeavour towards project development, were able to begin demolition and reconstruction in 2019 according to the plans of Flum Architects, based in Hamburg.

Today the privately run hotel offers its guests 62 rooms, a restaurant, a spa area with sauna on the top floor, as well as event and conference rooms. The rustic parlor, with a magnificent view from its outdoor terrace, is open to the public and proves a worthy destination for day trips. As is true for every hotel development project undertaken by the Scheidtweiler family, this project is emphasized by the use of natural elements such as wood, natural stone, and other high-quality materials.

In this project we executed the remodeling of all 62 baths. We finished the walls and floors with natural stone of calcium silicate. Dark marble vanities and counters lend the bathrooms a high-class elegance. Beyond that, we were commissioned to upgrade the public areas. Premium natural materials such as multicolor slate in the bathrooms and parlor and quartzite in the spa present an elaborate finish.
