Formerly known as "Hotel Concorde Berlin" on Ausgburger Strasse near the Kurfürstendamm, Sofitel Kurfürstendamm has been managed by the French Accor Group since 2014 under the Sofitel Luxury Hotels brand. The skyscraper with its 311 rooms, 44 of which are suites and the smallest of which is 40 square meters, was designed by the Berlin architect Jan Kleihues from the famous firm Kleihues + Kleihues as a luxury hotel with French roots in the City West.
The natural stone façade, reminiscent of the American and French architecture in the "Art Decó" style, consists of bright Kirchheim limestone.
The architect Jan Kleihues also designed the interior design and furniture of the hotel, which he highlighted with clear forms, warm colors and elegant features. The aim was to keep the interior timelessly modern through its simplicity. The materials used by Kleihues are walnut, smoked oak, corian and Carrara marble. Our job was to gently rehabilitate the entire hotel, replace floor coverings, and revise the furniture. This task extended over 3 construction phases in one and a half years. The work took place during ongoing operation.
